The event not to be missed is the Swingerhead show on Friday. We've heard many good things about this group from Orlando, so-called because band leader Michael Andrew's mug adorns all their promotional material. Now we finally get to see them! We're looking for a few people to send out or edit this newsletter on occasion. (You can do one without doing the other.) To send it out, all you need is a computer that's not too very old and some sort of e-mail or internet service. We'll set you up with the software you need plus easy-to-follow instructions. To edit, all you need, besides your usual wit, charm, and eloquence, is a machine from which you can type and e-mail. Again, you'll get some help, with newsletter guidelines and the like. On a slightly sad note, the Ritz in Clearwater is no more. After some renovations, it'll reopen in July as "Liquid Blue". So much for a short intro ... See you on the dance floor! Bob, Dick, Jan, Linda (from Orlando) and I got there in time for a couple sets of Dan Electro before the contest. It was Bob, Jan and Linda's first time and they couldn't get over how much it was like going back in time, and some of us can almost remember those times. It sure is inspiring to see all those "young whipper snappers" so into Swing. Oh, the energy! And no fear. It was an honor to be invited to help judge the final contest. Tell me that wasn't difficult! I didn't get a chance to meet anyone personally, but if you were one of the contestants and reading this, please know you were all very talented, so keep dancing, watching and learning. [ Editors Note: Congratulations to Vince and Liz, winners of the dance contest finals! ] Sarasota Swing Dance Society is co-ordinating a Sugar Palm Express caravan every Friday, so we'll catch you next week! Underline Saturday, June 20th in your club calendar. Because of our delay in opening our dance club, Taylor at Sugar Palm graciously offered to book the dance troop I had scheduled. This is not to be missed. Nationally renown ballroom dance choreographer, Darren Fernadez 'DZ' of Boca Raton, has a "Zoot Swing Review" dance show he will be performing that night. Very hep! Stay tuned for the opening of 'SPATS' dance club of Sarasota. Major Swing Dance competition in September.
