I've had a few direct e-mails and phone messages that people came in and they left... was it the crowd... the weather ... the music...? Swingerhead will be at Rat Pack's on the 1st, and w/ BBVD & DBB (Dem Brooklyn Bums) on 8/7 & 8/8 at Pleasure Island. Be sure to swing on by our new web sight at www.swingerhead.com and when in Orlando, ring up 'The Bassline" at 407/262-1000 for the latest happenings in club land. See you on the dancefloor, baby! -- StaceBass, Publicist and Promoter for Swingerhead ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CARPOOLING IDEA From Rich Katz (XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX): I was talking with a dancer who didn't want to drive to Y-bor alone and it occurred to me that there are probably a lot of people with this situation. Here's a form people could fill out and "post" in order to "register" for carpools to swing events: Name:_______________________________________________________ E-mail address:____________________________________________ Phone (with area code):_________________________________________ Best times to reach me:__________________________________________ City or Area commuting from:_____________________________________ I go to dance early or late:_______________________________________ I leave the dance early or late:____________________________________ Other comments or data:_________________________________________ We could just put them in the weekly newsletter (probably this would generate a lot of "pages sent") or we could "advertise" in the newsletter that such a list exists and that it will be e-mailed to anyone that requests it. Well that's all I really have on this. If it takes off, great, but if it bombs then that's fine also. Best, -- Rich Katz [ Editor's Note: It seems like a web site would be the best way to do this. The above form could be available on the site for people to fill out, and once the form was filled out, it would automatically appear on the web site for others interested in carpooling to see. As Rich suggested, we could periodically mention the site in this newsletter. Would anyone like to design such a site or to put such a feature into their existing swing-related web site? Respond to XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX . ] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PRACTICE NIGHT ON MONDAYS? Interested in practicing swing on Monday nights? The Swing City studio on North Armenia in Tampa has offered to make their floor available at 8:30pm on Mondays if enough people are interested. Besides practicing with your partner, there might be some impromptu teaching or swapping of moves. Cost would be about $3. One person would be in charge of the music. If interested, e-mail Sherrie Gill at XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX . ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TEA DANCE From Mack Sprouse (XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX): I would like to mention another event that takes place at the Sugar Palm Club on Sunday afternoons from 2:00-5:00. It's a Tea Dance. All forms of dancing take place: swing, foxtrot, waltz -- everything. We need the support of the local dance community to make this a success. An 18-piece band called Shades of Blue plays and the cost is $8, which includes snacks. For more info call the club, 813-248-5549.
