Two tours with the Brian Setzer Orchestra (through the U.S. & Europe), television spots and movie soundtrack work ('Three to Tango' & 'The Bachelor') have helped propel this band towards the mainstream." [www.indigoswing.com] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- WELCOME ... ... to this interim issue of Swing News. Some major late-breaking news prompted this early issue, but never fear, the previously announced schedule will be maintained, with the next issue still due 6/27/00 . The Suncoast Swing Gang is proud to present its biggest event ever, the upcoming Indigo concert. We were fortunate enough to catch this band on an unheard-of swing through Florida, thanks to a hot tip from Jumpin' James. Indigo (formerly Indigo Swing) is one of the biggest names in the swing world, so don't miss this unique opportunity. Mark your calendars for Sunday, July 2nd, at the Italian Club! Sam ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MORE LATE-BREAKING NEWS Abdel writes: "Hello everyone. The USF dance that was scheduled for June 24th has been rescheduled to Friday June 30th at the Marshall Center Ballroom at USF. The time is the same as before, 7:30pm-1:00am. There will be a Lindy lesson taught by Tim and Carmen at 7:30pm. As always, there will be free drinks and food. A $3 donation is requested from everyone, but is not at all required for entrance. I hope that everyone will plan on making it out to this dance. And don't forget there is another dance at USF next month on Friday the 21st of July. That's all for now. Have a good weekend." ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JUNE SPECIAL EVENTS Full details on these events can be found in the last Swing News (Issue #60), available at www.SwingNews.com . We ARE NOT breaking up! We have more gigs than ever right now & some exciting opportunities! We'll be headlining Vinoy Park for July 4th, and going to Key West a couple weeks later. It looks like we'll be playing at The Stone Mountain Jazz Festival in Georgia late this summer, and going to Atlantic City in late fall. Our plans now are to be back in Las Vegas sometime after the first of the year. We'll be spilling out a bunch of new material over the next several weeks, and we will be in the studio in the next couple of weeks recording the CD! Kim Bock is now playing sax & we will be using his wife, Sela, on piano on select gigs, as well as various additional brass players. So come on out and see what's going on.
